Just as cell phones connected people around the world it is now the smart phone that connects us and allows us to do daily tasks from the palm of our hand. New smart phones come out all the time trying to persuade us that this is the newest version of what is best and we need it. Samsung, the largest smart phone manufacturer in the world, released the Galaxy Note 7 not to long ago, but recently has recalled 2.5 million of them. This recall is due to the Note 7 catching fire, but even after the fix smartphones still caught fire. This has prompted Samsung to completely cancel production of the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung lost $17 billion in one day in an 8% market share drop. However it is not just a loss of money; Samsung will not have a flagship device to compete with Apple’s, iPhone 7 until their Galaxy S8 arrives. Samsung already planned to deliver the Galaxy S8 to challenge Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 8. Some are saying that the future of Samsung depends on the success of their Galaxy S8. With a projected launch date of 2017 shareholders and consumers alike wonder if the Galaxy S8 will reverse Samsung’s spiraling profits.
PSA The Effects of Screens
We live in a world surrounded by screens; they are in your house, your room, and even in your pocket right now. However these ever-present screens have a side effect. When we look at screens before we sleep the blue light interferes with us, causing our sleep pattern to be disrupted for up to 3 hours. This means that even when you get a full 8 hours of rest you might only benefit from 5 hours of it. Even checking a simple text message will affect your sleep negatively. To avoid this don’t look at screens 2 to 3 hours before you go to sleep. So take the simple step and avoid screens before you sleep, you will get more rest.
